In September 2012 the Lighthouse was honored by being selected by Expedia for their day of caring. Here is what some of those volunteers said about their experience:
“It was a great experience to know that a place so devoted and dedicated to the visually impaired exists to make a difference in the lives of the human beings that face the daily challenge of not being able to see. Just to give another human the confidence and provide them the tools to be as independent as someone that has sight it is a magnificent initiative to humankind that speaks for itself.”  Jesllian Pettinari – Expedia, Inc.

“Working with the staff at the Lighthouse of Broward was truly, pardon the pun, eye-opening.  This organization is the only one of its kind in Broward County and operates on a shoestring budget.  Despite all those challenges, theyare able to service thousands of people every year.  It was an honor to work alongside such dedicated and passionate people and I only wish we could have done more.”

Kisha Johnson – Expedia, Inc

“Volunteering at Lighthouse of Broward was a true life changing experience.  This is a great organization that has touched the lives of so many.  Lighthouse of Broward truly makes you see things differently.”

Moya Johnson – Expedia, Inc.

“It was such a pleasure to be able to give of my time to the great people of The Lighthouse of Broward.  My task was to add stickers to a flyer for an upcoming event they are hosting; something that literally took nothing out of me to do was so greatly appreciated by The Lighthouse team. It was heartening to see that something that seems so small to me was a big deal to them.  I look forward to giving of myself again to The Lighthouse in the future.”
